Alberta rebounded from an opening day loss to Ontario with a 4:0 thumping of Team Atlantic in Mt. Pearl, NL on 18 July. The victory came on the second day of the 2012 All Stars U-16 Boys competition.

Elva Cannigia bagged a hat-trick for the Albertans to lead the way to victory, while Aymar Sigue chipped in with the fourth goal.

Goalkeeper Dylan Pawley posted the clean sheet for the successful Albertan side.

In the division’s second match of the day in Mount Pearl, Québec duplicated Alberta’s earlier feat by dispatching Team MB/SK by a score of 4:0, too.

Heikel Jarras opened the scoring for Québec before El Mehdi Ibn Brahim added a brace. The victory was then capped off with a 22-yard wonder-strike from substitute Genaro Silvan Vigo.

Québec goalkeeper Marc-Antoine Chaudry picked up the clean sheet with a strong performance.

“I think the most important thing was our performance, rebounding from our loss in the first game of the tournament,” said Phillip Dos Santos, Québec U-16 coach. “I think our young squad reacted well and brought their strongest effort today.”

The score line was harsh on Team MB/SK who competed well throughout the match. Coach Mick Gale was full of praise for his boys.

“I was really proud,” said Gale after the match. “I pulled one of them off five minutes before the end just so the others could give him a standing ovation. It was a really good performance.”

In the morning’s crossover friendly match, Ontario and British Columbia battled to a 0:0 draw.
