13 August 1884 - Geordie Campbell - d. 21 February 1952
Geordie Campbell was a one-time Dominion Cup champion, winning a national title with Toronto Scottish in 1921. A runner-up in 1950 in voting for The Canadian Press’ best soccer athletes of the half century, Campbell was considered “one of the greatest fullbacks to ever play in this country. In 2000, he was part of the inaugural class honoured by The Soccer Hall of Fame.
14 August 1952 - George Pakos (Victoria, BC)
CONCACAF champion George Pakos is the author of one of Canada's biggest goals - the opening goal of a 2:1 win over Honduras to secure a berth in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Pakos scored from four metres out following a corner by Carl Valentine and subsequent header from Ian Bridge. The City of Vancouver water mechanic scored five goals in 23 "A" matches from 1983 to 1986, including goals against Honduras in the above-mentioned St. John's match and in Tegucigalpa three weeks earlier.
15 August 1926 - Brian Philley (Vancouver, BC) - d. 30 August 2002
Two-time Dominion Cup champion Brian Philley was part of Canada’s first FIFA World Cup Qualifiers team in 1957. He scored two goals in four matches, including the winning goal in Canada’s 5:1 victory over USA. A national champion in 1956 and 1960, he became an honoured member of The Soccer Hall of Fame in 2003.
